One Last Swipe

Like most millennials, our story starts on a dating app because apparently that is how love works now. Tyler messaged me on Hinge on December 31, 2023. I replied on January 1st, mostly because I was about to delete the app and decided to give it one last chance. Plot twist: best decision ever. We talked and talked, and at some point I realized that if I waited for him to ask for my number, we might still be chatting on Hinge today, so I asked him instead. Shortly after, we went on our first date to see the Astra Lumina lights. After the show, we wandered to a bar near Alki Beach, where we kept talking, eating, and having drinks like time did not exist. A black cat named Sausage stayed with us for a while, and when it was time to leave, he followed me all the way to my car. I briefly considered kidnapping him. After that, we kept hanging out, and the rest is history.

If you’re spending time in Seattle, set aside a couple of hours for the most classic, “only-in-Seattle” walk: good views, great people-watching, and snacks that are actually worth the hype. It’s an easy area to explore on foot and perfect to pair with the waterfront. You have to visit&nbsp;Pike Place Market don’t leave without walking down to the&nbsp;Seattle Gum Wall, then continue to the&nbsp;Seattle Waterfront&nbsp;to explore the piers and soak in the views. While you’re there, grab the mac and cheese at&nbsp;Beecher's Handmade Cheese&nbsp;and don’t skip the ham-and-cheese croissant from&nbsp;Le Panier French Bakery—both are quick, iconic, and totally worth it.

It typically takes around&nbsp;3–4 hours&nbsp;to complete round trip

The route blends a bluff-top overlook with a beach walk, making it feel varied and scenic without being a long or technical trek. Most hikers do a loop of about&nbsp;3.5–3.7 miles&nbsp;from the Ebey’s Landing State Park trailhead, with roughly&nbsp;200–300 feet&nbsp;of elevation gain, an easy/moderate outing that typically takes&nbsp;1.5–2.5 hours, depending on pace and how long you linger for views and photos. There are also longer options (around&nbsp;5.5 miles round trip) if you start from other trailheads. Tip: the beach section can be uneven and tide conditions matter, so it’s smart to check before you go.
